ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is, undoubtedly, one of the most widespread neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood. Diagnosed first in childhood, it often lasts into adulthood.
Well, it’s quite normal for children to struggle with problems focusing and behaving at one time or the other. However, kids with ADHD don’t just grow out of these problems and behaviours. The symptoms can be severe and can lead to difficulty at home, school or with friends.
The symptoms of ADHD in children and teenagers are well defined and they’re usually noticeable before the age of 6. They occur in more than one situation such as at home and at school.
These symptoms can cause significant problems in a child’s life such as underachievement at school, poor social interaction with other children and adults, and problems with discipline.
If you notice problems in your child for a prolonged period of time, it is important to get him or her assessed for ADHD and get the support needed to help her overcome the challenge and achieve their personal and academic goals.
